HELD

Sundown, the neon’s sign,
she calls me out, shaken from where I lie.
Take me to the edge of life,
up on the hill over the city lights.

Night falls, and spills over the hive,
a giddy rush, her passion hits the rise.
I'll be the storm by your side,
every disguise you use is mine.

I'm held, in the arms of the city,
baby I'm sure I can be somebody.
But I'm here, all tied up in living,
and held in the arms of the city.

On sleepless streets, you and I,
tempted oft, and deeper than I'd like.
But the question of what is right,
has no place in a vagabond life.

I'm held, in the arms of the city,
baby I'm sure I can be somebody.
But I'm here, all tied up in living,
and held in the arms of the city.

Walk on a trail, vermilion and blue,
hear a sigh, rumble down the avenue.
I feel it pushing me to face what's true,
I know my time here will never be through.
